Changing Perspectives

Located at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH), the program provides start-up companies with a shared workspace, a curriculum tailored to the needs of healthcare entrepreneurs and the guidance of advisors representing industry best practice. Selected MHx companies will have access to one of Victoria’s largest medical networks, without fees or equity sharing.

Throughout the acceleration period, start-ups further develop their companies by attending a variety of workshops and practical education sessions to gain insights from experts in every facet of running a health-related start-up: clinical trials, regulatory requirements, legal issues, intellectual property, licensing, fundraising, financing, business models, pitching, marketing and other critical areas. In addition, cohorts work with the MHx team and partners to refine strategies and build relationships in the local ecosystem and beyond.

MHx will provide networking opportunities with key opinion leaders and mentors during a wide range of activities that include an RMH Innovation Fellows Forum, regional exchange with Bendigo Health, international pitch events and other scheduled sessions. The program culminates in a Demonstration Day, an exciting day of exclusive presentations and exhibiting for investors, corporate partners, hospital stakeholders, media and other guests.

The 2019 cohort of MHx will accept between 10-12 start-ups into our 13 week accelerator program, running from April 8th - July 5th 2019. Start-ups accepted to the accelerator will range from Minimum Viable Product (MVP) development to companies that are post-seed and series A ready. One founder from each start-up will be required to commit to compulsory attendance of 2-3 days per week during this period. Applications will close on the 3rd March 2019, with interviews held for short-listed candidates held shortly after.
