It is the only woman-owned independent distribution company in North America and selects socially minded, political and artistic films, which convey a message of value to our world. Zeitgeist has launched the careers of numerous directors such as Todd Haynes, Deepa Mehta, Christopher Nolan and Raoul Peck.

    Co-President

    Emily Russo is co-president and co-founder of Zeitgeist Films. Born and raised in Roslyn, Long Island, she graduated in 1980 from SUNY Binghamton with a degree in Cinema Studies. She then lived in Germany for 5 years. Prior to founding Zeitgeist she was Head of Theatrical Sales at Interama Inc., which specialized in French language releases. She serves on film festival juries and participates on panels concerning the independent film business.

  • Clemence Taillandier
    Head of Theatrical Sales and Festivals

    Clemence Taillandier is the Head of Theatrical Sales and Festivals. She joined Zeitgeist in 2000. Born in France, she studied economics, marketing and management in France and Canada. She worked at the French Consulate and Cultural Services in New York and while in France she was the Assistant Publicist for an International Children’s Film Festival, and the Festival Coordinator for the International Film Festival in Seine-Saint-Denis.

  • Nancy Gerstman
    Co-President

    Nancy Gerstman is co-president and co-founder of Zeitgeist Films. She has worked in all aspects of film distribution and exhibition including a stint at Landmark Theatre Corp., the largest independent theatre chain in the US. She is in demand as a juror, panelist and commentator on issues related to independent and foreign language film and is Permanent Artist-in-Residence in the Master's Program in Media and Communication Arts at CCNY.

  • Adrian Curry
    Design Director/Webmaster

    Adrian Curry has worked with the company since 1991. Born in the UK, Adrian studied English Literature at University College London and came to New York in 1989. Having always had a great interest in graphic design he started to design flyers and ads and eventually posters for the company before officially becoming Design Director in 2000 when Zeitgeist launched its home video label. Adrian currently writes a weekly column about movie posters.

  • Cristela Henriquez
    Office Manager

    Cristela Henriquez has been Accounting Administrator and Office Manager at Zeitgeist since 2002. She studied at the (Houston, TX) High School For Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice and worked part time at the Exxon Corporate headquarters. After changing her mind about the law field and the oil industry, she went on to study at the University of Texas at Austin where she graduated with honors from the Radio, Television, and Film program.

  • Ian Stimler
    Director of Home Media Sales

    Ian Stimler is the Director of Home Media Sales, overseeing DVD and digital sales for the company. Ian launched the Zeitgeist DVD division in 2000, setting up all wholesale accounts and laying out the DVD distribution network. During this time Ian also founded his own DVD boutique label KimStim and in 2008 helped create the DVD division for Adam Yauch's Oscilloscope Laboratories.

  • Shannon Attaway
    Director of Home Media/Digital Production

    Shannon Attaway is Director of Home Media/Digital Production, managing the creative, editorial and publicity facets of that division since 2002. Shannon has a BA in psychology from Texas A&M University and an MA in cinema studies from New York University. Prior to joining Zeitgeist, she was for five years an Editorial Director and Producer for The Criterion Collection.

  • Ben Crossley-Marra
    Head of Theatrical Marketing/Educational Sales

    Benjamin Crossley-Marra is Head of Theatrical Marketing and Educational Sales and has worked for Zeitgeist since 2009. He has degrees in both Film and English from Fredonia College. He has worked in the film industry since graduating and his previous experience included posts at The Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) and The Tribeca Film Festival.
