Company Summary

XCube believes that in the near future there will be an explosion of autonomous machines operating around us and with us. XCube’s vision is to enable the development, testing, and safety assurance of these autonomous systems while facilitating efficient use of the massive amount of collected sensor and video data.

With products shipping for revenue since 2011, XCube has built a fully integrated, end-to-end software toolset and application framework for management and automated testing with streaming big data. Using technology initially targeted at unmanned aerial vehicles in defense, XCube is now focusing on automotive autonomous drive and advanced driver assist systems (ADAS).

Automotive companies with ADAS and autonomous drive technology have no way to prove their systems are safe and have no tools to manage huge multi-sensor data sets which may be hundreds of Petabytes spread over 3 continents. XCube provides the framework to enable them to run their exiting simulators in parallel without recoding them, providing a 10-20X increase in performance, The input to those simulations are specific sections of video and sensor stream files, often totaling 10-100 petabytes stored in multiple locations around the world. We use content-based search engine technology to automatically tag interesting sections of the video and sensor streams for later use by the distributed simulation. Instead of having the simulator retrieve the remote data, we send the simulator in parallel to run on the cluster node where each piece of data is located. This avoids transmitting dude amounts of data, which may be regulated not to leave a given country, as well as speeding execution of the simulation by 10-20x.

Our target customers are the Automotive OEMs and their Tier 1 suppliers. We will sell them proof of concept systems for $50K-$100K. Honda and Volvo are currently in this stage. Initial production systems will sell for $500K-$1M. Full production of an automotive platform with multiple models is expected to be a total of $6M per platform. Many Automotive OEMs have 10 platforms, so full penetration of a single customer could be on the order of $60M, refreshed on 6 year development cycles.
