Company Summary
The Wind River Project is developing a biomass conversion facility and aquaponic greenhouses on a 25-acre clearing in Skamania County, WA within 55 road miles of downtown Portland. Our project will address growing demand for affordable, locally grown produce. Our system and location will enable us to do so year-round, more efficiently, and at a scale that smaller, regional producers have not achieved.

FounderRetired engineer who worked in steel foundries and high-purity silica glass fabrication. He has substantial experience in mechanical systems installations and project management. He is the managing member of Wind River Biomass Utility, LLC, which is undertaking the Wind River Project.

FounderRetired from the U.S. Forest Service, where he was Federal Forest Enforcement Officer and with experience as a District Recreational Program Manager and Gifford Pinchot National Forest reforestation stand management. Tom has extensive knowledge and relationships in logging operations, forest ecology, and timber issues.

Elona TrogubAquaponics DirectorHas 16 years’ experience in all aspects of operating food-related enterprises, from running fine dining restaurants to cheesemaking, to starting and selling her own prepared foods company, to farming and farm education. Elona currently sits on the board of Tryon Life Community Farm, is a community herbalist and a skilled facilitator.

Ryan CristAquaponics DirectorMechanical engineer and chemist with seven years of design and consulting experience for aquaponic systems and organic farms in Portland, with a recent emphasis on creating more automation in farming. Ryan won the best prototype award in the 2017 CleanTech Challenge with Aquarian Provisions for a functional mobile aquaponic system built on a trailer for people in the city with little land available, allowing them to grow their own produce & fish.

Technical DirectorData Engineer for the Enterprise Data & Analytics Team within the Information Technology Division of Multnomah County, overseeing over 200 employees in data analytics. He has worked with data and software for 25 years, specializing in databases, data warehouses, data analytics, application and data integration, networking and web applications. He also has extensive experience in the nutritional supplement field.
