    Executive Director Wilderness Awareness School

    Warren began working with Wilderness Awareness School in 1995 as Youth Programs Director. He has since served as an instructor and administrator for all aspects of the school's programs until becoming Executive Director in 2001. Warren has a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and worked as an environmental engineer, until he discovered that nature and mentoring were his true passions.

    Associate Director Wilderness Awareness School

    John has extensive experience as an outdoor educator, public school teacher and business consultant. Since joining Wilderness Awareness School in 2000, John specializes in strategic development of the organization as well as sharing its inspiring stories with the rest of the world. He is in awe of the natural world and sees hope for the future in every child. John and his family live in the Snoqualmie Valley and can frequently be found outdoors.

  • Carolyn Kramer, MPH
    Executive Director Treeswing

    Ms. Kramer is dynamic leader and school health champion. Over the past 10 years while working with Seattle Public Schools, she has piloted promising interventions; served as a community liaison; promoted the link between health and learning; and mobilized funding for these efforts. She is an expert on policy approaches to improve school health. Ms. Kramer is also the co-founder and coordinator of the WA Healthy Schools Summit.

    Carly’s experience spans the micro and macro level in the fields of education and public health. She has designed and coordinated a variety of major education projects at a number of local nonprofits. Most recently, she lead several projects addressing nationwide health inequity initiatives at the University of Washington. Carly’s skills include strategic planning, health education, curriculum development, and qualitative research.

    Program Coordinator/Instructor Wilderness Awarenes

    Nate has been mentoring adults and youth in the outdoors since 1995. His journey with ancient living skills started as a teenager at the Ancient Lifeways Institute in Southern Illinois. Nate has served as both Youth Programs Director and Adult Programs Director for Wilderness Awareness School, and has worked with such organizations as King County Parks and Recreation, Seattle Parks Department, and Outdoor Connections/WildLore.
