is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Anesthesiology at UCSD. Along with her clinical practice she has experience in both bench research and in conducting clinical trials. Her pioneering studies with the use of anti-inflammatory stem cells for the treatment of pain in diabetics were recently published and featured in various press releases. She has been awarded the Foundation for Anesthesiology Education and Research Fellowship Grant.

is a recognized expert in the field of stem cells, cancer, and stem cell-based therapies. She has greatly contributed to the understanding of many aspects of human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) over the last decade. Her patent-pending technology has been successfully tested in several pre-clinical models of human disease and is exclusively licensed by Wibi+Works, LLC.
