VinPerfect has created a wine closure system that combines a ventilated screwcap with an oxygen-regulating liner. The liners are made by a contract manufacturer and the caps are purchased from several manufacturers. VinPerfect can sell the liners to cap manufacturers and distributors, and it can also assemble the cap and liner to sell the whole closure to winery customers.

He was previously Executive Director at Morgan Stanley, serving as an Equity Research Analyst for over 10 years. He has an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management, and a BS in Chemical Engineering from UC Berkeley.

    Tim is a UC Davis trained winemaker with over 12 years experience. He has served as a winemaker in the Stag’s Leap District of Napa and Sonoma’s Russian River Valley, among others. In addition to leading the VinPerfect team, he is the consulting winemaker for Alta Ridge Vineyards. Tim invented the VinPerfect screw cap during his MBA studies at UC Davis, and led his team to victory in the 2008 Big Bang! Business Plan Competition.

    Collin brings over a decade of experience in sales, marketing and client services. Collin is establishing best-practices for VinPerfect finance and operations. He also develops on-going brand strategy and sales tactics. Prior to joining the VinPerfect team, Collin was the Director of Sales & Hospitality at Staglin Family Vineyard. He received his MBA from UC Davis with an emphasis in marketing and strategic management of organizations.

    Craig has over a dozen years experience selling screwcaps and other wine bottle closures, and he has deep relationships with the leading cap manufacturers and other key industry participants.

  • Annegret Cantu
    Director of Research

    Annegret brings extensive research experience with a focus on wine oxidation to the VinPerfect team. She leads VinPerfect's research, product development and quality assurance efforts. Annegret holds Masters Degrees in both Viticulture & Enology from UC Davis, and in Food & Nutrition Science from Christian-Albrechts University in Kiel, Germany.

    Jim Olson is a veteran entrepreneur who raised over $80 million in venture capital for his company SkyStream Networks, which he sold to Tandberg Television in 2006. Tandberg was subsequently sold to Ericsson for $1.4 billion. He has also served in executive positions for two Fortune 500 companies, Hewlett-Packard and 3Com Corporation. Jim brings seasoned executive leadership to the VinPerfect team, and a passion for building great companies.

Prior to VinPerfect, he held the position of VP and CFO of Evalve, Inc., a medical device start-up. He previously held the positions of CFO for BioSpace, CFO for X-Stream and senior financial positions at 3 other successful start-ups.

    Board Member

    Scott McLeod was the winemaker for Rubicon Estate for 18 years and has now ventured out on his own. Wine Enthusiast named him “winemaker of the year” in 2009. Now a consultant, Scott owns vineyard properties, is a partner in Safe Harbor Wine Storage, a modern wine storage and enhancement facility in Napa Valley, and is launching his own wine brand, which he intends to bottle 100% with VinPerfect screw caps.

    Dr. Robert Smiley, a wine economist, is Dean and Professor of Management, Emeritus, and Director of Wine Industry Studies at UC Davis Graduate School of Management. Dr. Smiley serves on multiple boards in the wine business and is well known for his expertise, research, and insights into the wine industry.
