Company Summary
Viatap enables mobile providers to bring the success of mobile commerce applications such as Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks to small to mid-sized merchants. Our focus is enabling mobile devices to transmit payment, coupon, loyalty and other information directly into point of sale systems without the use of clunky bar codes. We've filed patents, designed the hardware and processes, and developed working prototypes. All this is done at low implementation cost, limited to no point of sale integration, and with an engaging customer experience that solves the problems associated with mobile commerce when the customer is separated from the point of sale.
The primary components for various applications are:
- A connected mobile phone reading device called a TappStation that is plugged into a point of sale system with a USB cable - as far as the POS is concerned, it looks and acts just like a magnetic stripe reader or bar code scanner.
- A remote TappStation device that enables interaction when the customer is separated from the point of sale, such as at full service restaurants.
- Client back office software to enable device management and utilize collected customer data for CRM.
The customer experience in a restaurant is:
- Receive your check
- Tap your phone on a Viatap device in the check carrier or at the table
- View and pay your check on your phone
Eat. Tap. Go.
The revenue model is a combination of per-location subscriptions and transaction fees.
