Company Summary
The Vietnamese Friendship Association was formed in 1978 to respond to resettlement needs of refugees from the Vietnam War. We achieved this mission by providing information and referral, housing, ESL classes, job placement, interpretation and translation services. Over the past five years, our programs have focused on supporting children, youth, and parents in education, community development, and cultural preservation.

Vu LeExecutive Director
Vu has a BA in Psychology and an MSW from Washington University in St. Louis. This is his sixth year with VFA. He was a Dan Than Americorps member for two years before becoming VFA’s Executive Director.

James HongDirector of Youth and Community Engagement
James is a graduate of the University of Washington with degrees in psychology, sociology, and education. He served in Cambodia as a Peace Corps Volunteer for two years before coming to the VFA. His professional interests involves building sustainable and innovative community solutions.

Rachel SchachterDirector of Finance and Development
Rachel Schachter has over eight years of nonprofit experience with both local and national organizations. Her diverse experience in fund development, program management and finance brings a well-rounded perspective to nonprofits of all sizes.
