Company Summary

Our taverns will be their community’s social hub and unofficial civic center. Purpose-built and programmed to foster and direct social capital our taverns will ensure neighborhoods have welcoming “third places” in which citizens can unwind, learn and connect. To accomplish this we will design to foster dialogue; host community programming; and leverage trained staff to instill a culture of informed exchange, reciprocity and active citizenship.

  • Todd Schechter
    Founder

    Todd is a 31-year-old Master of Public Administration with experience as a strategy and organizational development consultant for Fortune 500 companies, nonprofit organizations, and local governments. He also has experience as a restaurant host, server, cashier, line cook, prep cook, dishwasher, and busboy.

    Todd first had a vision of this venture in 2000; he has been iterating the concept and developing the skills, experience and relationship

  • Jing Herman
    Director of Strategy and Business Development

    Jing started her career in investment banking with Bear Stearns, then joined the Corporate Strategy team at the firm prior to its acquisition by JPMorgan. In addition to working on The New American Tavern, Jing is currently a VP in the Strategic Investments group, focusing on early stage investing in financial technology companies, industry consortium transactions, internal strategy and business development.

  • Damon Kornhauser
    Dir. Service Training and Experience Design

    Designing his first service training program for Dennis Max's Unique Restaurant Concepts in 1998, Damon went on to work with Danny Meyer's Union Square Café and Mario Batali's Babbo. He has managed for Batali in Las Vegas and Los Angeles and for Michael White's AltaMarea Group in NY. He subsequently managed service training and organizational development for Soho House in London, Berlin, and Los Angeles and is currently managing the same in NY.
