50% of collected textbooks are donated to partner African universities, 20% are resold online to local students at affordable prices (providing the revenue to fund and expand our operations) and the remainder are recycled efficiently.

CFOIan has 20+ years of experience in a variety of executive positions, with extensive exposure to US and international markets. He started his career at SST, where, as VP Sales and later as President, he led the company’s growth from start-up to over $25 million in revenue. Since then, he has held a number of other leadership positions, including CEO of Waterloo Maple and COO of PCI Geomatics, and was one of the original advisors at MaRS.

CEO & Co-founderChris launched Textbooks for Change after experimenting with various start-ups upon his graduation from the Ivey Business School. Chris thrives in building and scaling early stage/high-growth enterprises and, as a social entrepreneur, believes organizations should act in the interest of all stakeholders. Chris provides leadership and vision as we work to deliver affordable and accessible educational material to students across the globe.

COO & Co-founderTom has been close to the action with Textbooks for Change since it was a school project in 2012. He has a passion for entrepreneurship and is responsible for running all of the day-to-day operations at the company, as well as planning out our future growth strategy. Tom graduated from Western University in 2013, earning a degree in Business Management and Organizational Studies with a specialty in Finance.

CMOBrady is a graduate of Western University with a dual-degree from the Ivey Business School and the Faculty of Information & Media Studies. Prior to joining the company, Brady worked led the largest post-secondary fundraising campaign in Canada. As CMO, Brady leads all our marketing efforts and student engagement on campuses. Brady is a Venture for Canada Fellow, a not-for-profit that connects top grads with Canadian start-ups.

Director of Business DevelopmentSince joining Textbooks for Change in 2015 as Director of Business Development, Adam has been responsible for creating the company's sales process from the ground up, developing and implementing growth strategies, and cultivating high-growth strategic partnerships with post-secondary schools and community partners. Adam graduated with a double Degree in History and English from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Business Impact LeadHaleigh is a graduate from the Munk School of Global Affairs, specializing in social innovation and human rights. Haleigh has served as a Human Rights advisor for the Canadian Government in Geneva on Women’s Rights, and as a social innovation consultant for the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology. As Business Impact Lead, she develops partnerships with campuses across North America and works to quantify our social impact in Africa.

Andrew LoebusDirector of East African OperationsAfter graduating from Carleton University in 2012, Andrew received an Aga Khan Fellowship, which sent him to Kenya to work with Honey Care Africa, a social enterprise that uses beekeeping to boost the income of smallholder farmers. At Textbooks for Change, Andrew leads our operations, logistics and measurement in East Africa. His professional interests include value chain development, last-mile delivery, and logistics systems and processes.
