IMAGINE—Every children's book on Earth, read aloud and downloaded from the cloud! The Sparkup Reader clips on to any picture book, enabling a child to listen to the story aloud. Preliminary launch in Western markets last year reaped over $1 million in revenue. Sparkup Gen. 2, under development, will be a wi-fi connected IoT device, allowing parents and children to record, share and download an infinite number of children's books, read aloud.

Amir KorenCEOAmir is a ‘Serial Entrepreneur’ with a background in marketing, branding, entertainment, consumer products and electronics. Amir is Sparkup’s visionary, focusing on brand image, market strategy and key partner relationships. He served in the entertainment corps in the Israeli army and studied Life Sciences at Israel Open University.

COORoei is also a long time entrepreneur, having worked together with Amir for nearly 20 years on four successful ventures. Roei is Sparkup’s expert in strategy, finance and staff management, and a frequent lecturer and coach for leadership and personal development. Roy served in an artillery unit in the Israeli army and studied Life Sciences at Israel Open University.

Denis Simakov, PhDCTODenis is a highly experienced software engineer and optics specialist, in charge of SparkUp’s R&D. He played a key role in development of the Samsung Galaxy S and served as a visiting researcher at Los Alamos National Laboratory, USA. Denis has 5 degrees, from Moscow Institute of Technology and Israel’s Weizman Institute of Science and has been awarded multiple patents for innovations in optics and signal processing.

General Manager, ChinaAfter working for 3 years at Reader’s Digest Publications in USA, Aaron spent 18 years in Shanghai and Hong Kong, where he ran his own successful businesses in marketing and book printing, working with commercial partners including Coca-Cola, MasterCard, and the Bank of China as well as global publishers including Editora Abril (Brazil) and John Wiley & Sons. Aaron successfully sold his company and moved to Israel in 2013.

Product ManagerProfessor Tarazi co-founded Israel’s branch of world-renowned industrial design company IDEO, is chair of the master industrial design program at Bezalel Academy of Design and is a member of Israel’s Council of Higher Education. He is responsible for the form and function of the SparkUp Reader and for making sure kids and parents alike have a seamless user experience.

Adi ShohamEducation DirectorUnderstanding how children learn best is at the core of Sparkup’s mission, and Adi makes sure that product development incorporates the latest research and best practice. She contributes to Sparkup’s development, while completing her PhD in Psychology at the University of Haifa.
