Company Summary

Low income areas such as East Harlem have low accessibility to healthy restaurants and fresh produce, which is available in only 3% of its bodegas. Without access to healthy & inexpensive foods, those living in these areas have minimal options to let them break out of the cycle of unhealthy eating. Soup Up! sells soup, a low-cost and nutritious food, to these areas in order to raise awareness of nutritious eating and encourage healthier choices.

    Vivian Wang is double majoring in Nutrition and Psychology and is going to graduate school for Public Health Nutrition. She interned with Food Bank for NYC’s Community Kitchen in West Harlem and has had experience with low-income populations. She was also President of NYU’s Chapter of CHEFs for Schools and conducted extensive outreach to NYC communities to address issues of food inequality.
