  • Willem Nolens
    Managing Director

    Willem brings 15 years of senior management experience in microfinance and renewable energy in Africa. He established and managed ProCredit microfinance banks and subsequently co-founded a USD 125 million investment fund for microfinance, CMI. He managed SolarNow’s predecessor since 2009, where he applied his microfinance and commercial expertise to streamline the organization and prepare for commercialization and growth.

  • Chief Business Development

    Ronald joined Rural Energy Foundation in 2006, where he worked as country manager Uganda and regional manager East Africa. Ronald’s core expertise is renewable energy technology and supply chain management. In 2010 he implemented the successful hire purchase pilot in Uganda. Ronald currently manages the business and product development, and service activities across our network in Uganda.

  • Chief Technology Officer

    Peter worked as country manager for SolarNow’s predecessor in Tanzania from 2009 to 2011. In 2011 he joined SolarNow’s management team in Uganda as the Administration Manager, responsible facility management, IT and Logistics. He is now responsible for ICT, R&D and sourcing.

  • Marketing Manager

    Javier has 10 years of experience ranging from Auditing&Consulting in PwC, as an entrepreneur (launching a tech startup and an e-commerce in Spain) and assessing social enterprises on how to grow their business.

  • Group Risk Manager

    John has over 20 years’ experience in accounting, auditing and tax law. He moved from Uganda to the US to complete his studies including a Masters Degrees in Accounting and Tax Law and worked for the United Nations as an Accountant. He then spent over 10 years working in Accounting and International Tax Law at Discovery Communications and a private Tax Law Practice before returning to Uganda to join SolarNow as head of Risk Management.

  • Austin Harris is a finance, strategy and operations professional with over 13 years of experience. He has worked in East Africa for over 6 years. He began his career in M&A and Corporate Banking and transitioned into microfinance which took him to Bangladesh and Rwanda. A Skoll Scholar, he completed his MBA at Oxford Said Business School and most recently worked for Off Grid Electric in Tanzania and Rwanda.
