Erik received a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University in 2012. He was a participant of the NUvention Medical course from the Farley Center for Entrepreneurship in addition he has certificates from the Kellogg School of Management, the Farley Center for Entrepreneurship, and the Center for Leadership at Northwestern University.

30 years of experience developing, launching and selling medical technologies for Johnson and Johnson, Sanofi, and Medtronic spanning product development, manufacturing, sales, and marketing. He joined Medtronic as Senior Director in product development and operations and later served as Vice President of Marketing at a Medtronic unit. In 2008, launched Rapid Diagnostek serving as CEO 2008-2015. Rapid Diagnostek, Inc. was acquired by Qorvo.
