Company Summary
Shurpa’s vision is to build the Salesforce of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) – a $4.8B industry where many competing offerings were developed decades ago. Think green screens and MS-DOS. Most TMS software does not take advantage of features we would consider to be table stakes in any modern software development effort – low-hanging fruit includes cloud-based architecture, mobile optimization, human-centered design, etc.

Co-founder and COOAfter graduating UVA, Mike was a Navy logistics officer for four years before earning an MBA at the University of Michigan. He then consulted on supply chain optimization for Accenture, working with companies like Advance Auto Parts and Nike. It was then that Mike broke from the pack and began his journey into startups; Shurpa is his second venture-backed company to-date.

Founder and CEOAfter graduating with a Journalism degree from the University of Iowa, Ben honed a skill set that would later become vital as an entrepreneur, at some of the state's best publications. Gaining access by building a network, a keen curiosity, deadline execution, and a fierce sense of competition are all things Ben brings from those days to Shurpa. This is his first venture-backed startup.
