He was the founder of Thermoscan Inc. and 2 other companies. He was CTO of Kaz, Inc. Author of 80 papers and two books, including “Handbook of Modern Sensors”.

    Dr. Burd was Founder & CEO of Oculir, developing non-invasive glucose testing technology. Prior to that, he was a General Partner of Windamere Venture Partners and Chairman & CEO of MiraMedica, J. Burd was previously President & CEO of DexCom, where he developed, manufacture and marketed implantable glucose sensor for people with diabetes. In April 2005, DexCom completed a successful IPO, valuing the company at up to $600 million.
