Sal Mar Azteca is a jv between I-DEV & a co-op of 120 indigenous salt farmers who harvest an extremely high quality, mineral-rich, organic sea salt from natural lagunas on Mexico’s Pacific Coast using the same artisenal harvest techniques as their Aztec ancestors. SalMarAzteca sells its salt, which lab analysis has shown is among the world’s highest quality mineral salts, as high-end cooking salts & as a variety of luxury bath salt products.

Jason has over a decade of experience working in both the traditional business sector in investment banking, private equity, corporate turnarounds and venture capital, as well as the grassroots development sector. He has worked and consulted with Acumen Fund, Ashoka, Grassroots Business Fund, Root Capital and other social venture sector leaders and he is the Managing Director of I-DEV International. Jason has a JD from NYU Law.

Patricia Chin-Sweeney is New York director of I-DEV International and oversees I-DEV’s Insight services, including consumer products development & analysis, market/social trends analysis, innovation, and industry analysis. While with I-DEV, Patricia has helped launch & grow nearly a dozen social ventures, several of which are now $1million+ businesses. She graduated from NYU Stern with a focus on CSR, Social Entrepreneurship & Impact Investing.

Juan Alvarez is the elected president of the Sociedad Cooperativa de Salineros de Juluchuca, the 120 member small farmers' cooperative that manages is the supply chain side of Sal Mar Azteca. He is also the elected president of Sal Mar Azteca. Juan has over 40 years of experience in artisenal sea salt production and has been president of the cooperative for the past 3 terms, which illustrates the respect that the other members hold for him.

Eric Naranjo began his career as a Business & Economic Development Volunteer with the Peace Corps, where he helped build a US$2 million farmer owned agri-business.
