Company Summary

RetMap was formed to advance ophthalmic care through commercialization of translational bioengineering discoveries from academic ideas and concepts to products for the ophthalmic and vision science communities. We are raising $300,000 to commercialize the RM Electrode, a simple soft disposable contact lens electrode for electroretinography. Our other products include the CLEAr Lens and Peri-Stim.

    John R. Hetling, PhD
    VP of Scientific Affairs

    John is the director of the Neural Engineering Vision Laboratory (NEVL) and an Associate Professor in the departments of Bioengineering and Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago. John brings 24 years of experience with electrophysiology, neuroscience and bioinstrumentation. His NEVL research group has pioneered the use of the contact lens electrode arrays in corneal electroretinography.

    Safa is responsible for overseeing safety and effectiveness of the technologies RetMap is developing, monitors clinical trials and ensuring clinical endpoints are appropriate. Her responsibilities also include approving marketing materials, brochures, and clinical literature and publications. She is currently a Vitreoretinal Fellow at The Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Safa was instrumental in the innovation of the CLEAr Lens system.

    Tamas builds enterprise value and accelerates revenue by finding new revenue streams: new channels, new markets, new products. He excels in technical and business innovation, emerging trends and markets. Tamas received his MBA from Chicago Booth School of Business and his PhD in bioengineering form the University of Illinois. Tamas has 22 year innovation/entrepreneurship spanning Fortune 500 to startups.
