Company Summary

We provide our customers with stylish products that are both eco-friendly & fair trade. To make our accessories & apparel we help employ at-risk women globally to hand-make our collections. Our goal is to empower artisans to rise out of poverty through dignified work and our customers to use their purchasing power to make a difference in the world. Because of our attention to style, what we make appeals to a wide range of women (ages 18-65).

    Before starting R+L, Kirsten’s career was divide by her passions for social justice & fashion. She spent 15 years doing both styling work in the film industry & working along-side global non-profits. Creating this brand has allowed her to unify her passions & capitalize her experience in both the humanitarian & fashion world. Kirsten is passionate about promoting social business models as a means of providing a dignified way to alleviate poverty.

    Sophia Hirokawa Lin

    Sophia served as the creative director of R+L from 2008-2012. Prior to R+L, she was a creative director at Khana Shiro, an award-winning graphic design agency that represented many of the leading men in Hollywood like Pitt, Clooney & DiCaprio. Sophia is an entrepreneur at heart and has started multiple design-related companies; however, her greatest passion is the intersection of design, social justice, and the environment.

    Courtney studied Fashion Design at Philadelphia University and got her start interning at Betsey Johnson & Anthropologie. She moved on to work for Free People, and for five years Courtney grew as a designer within FP and developed a focus on creating apparel collections in India. She values building & maintaining strong, sustainable relationships with the artisans that help bring her designs to you.

    After graduating from Texas A&M with degrees in Finance & Economics, Cameron moved to Uganda to work with Sseko Designs. As the International Development Director for Sseko, she gained experience navigating the challenges that come with working in a developing country. Living abroad and working firsthand with artisans solidified Cameron's belief that providing employment opportunities is the most powerful way to transform lives.
