Company Summary

Proper Course & Co. makes performance footwear for the sartorially inclined - using sailing to communicate our brand message.

Our initial plan is to target the billion dollar + sport sandal market. The category has been stagnate for years - products are poorly designed, materials are basic and brand inspiration is limited. We're looking to reinvigorate the category and attract a different demographic by offering products with a focused design language, performance roots and an aspirational sailing story, but package it for a fashionable lifestyle consumer.

    Matt Murphy has a strong background in advertising and marketing. For the last eight years he has been the senior copywriter for Affinity Development Group. ADG operates car-buying programs for large-scale corporate clients like Costco, AAA and Navy Federal Credit Union. Matt Murphy received a degree in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management from Florida State University.

    Creative Director

    Richard is the founder of the Directive Collective, a Toronto-based footwear design consultancy. He has been nominated for several industry awards, including the 2007 Volvo SportDesign Award for his work with Hummel International. Most recently, he helped bring the minimalist running shoe brand SKORA to market. He has more than 10 years of industry experience.
