A national security and foreign policy professional, Miguel began his career with the Department of State as a diplomat before joining the Department of Homeland Security as an intelligence analyst. In that role he led the integration of open-source data and social-media mining into analytical and targeting processes. He holds degrees in international relations and Islamic studies.

Joey has spent 12 years at the intersection of science, technology, and media, between D.C., Boston, and L.A. Staring at the vast empty parking expanses during covid, he left his role spearheading the development of the Netflix solutions engineering program, to get back to his environmental roots. In his time as Northeastern's Student Body President, he helped lead pioneering climate initiatives on campus.
