PlaceSpeak is a location-based engagement platform for organizations to consult online with people within specific geographic boundaries. After building a robust solution for public consultation, PlaceSpeak has also developed open data Civic Notifications, and Neighbourhoods, a geosocial network for neighbours. PlaceSpeak operates on a Software as a Service (SaaS) model, and charges a licence fee to proponents of public consultations.

Team

  • Colleen is the founder and CEO of PlaceSpeak. A serial entrepreneur, Colleen has an academic background in urban geography and political science. She spent many years in media as a film and television producer and segued into internet technology. In 2006, she won the Vortex award for excellence in new media innovation from the Marshall McLuhan foundation.

    Gordon brings decades of community engagement experience to PlaceSpeak. He was hired by the Province of BC in 1999 to coordinate the development of a community relations strategy at the BC Film Commission. When the BC Film Commission was transformed into Creative BC in 2013, Gordon led in the development of the new brand, website, a new solutions for location image asset and production issue management.

    Daniel is a demand generation specialist with extensive experience successfully combining online and offline marketing techniques to fill the sales pipeline. Working in both London and his native Belfast, Daniel has helped multiple start-ups accelerate their growth by developing and executing on effective marketing strategies.

  • Charles Cook
    Director

    Charles Cook, formerly Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Discovery Capital, has served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Manager for over ten years. Prior to joining Discovery Capital, Mr. Cook had over 10 years of investment banking experience in advising public and private companies. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of British Columbia and is a Certified Management Accountant.
