Every 16 seconds someone dies of AIDS. Studies show that adult male circumcision can reduce the rate of heterosexual HIV transmission by up to 60%. The WHO has recommended that over 38 million uncircumcised adult African males be circumcised to prevent HIV infection. However, only 1.3 million males had been circumcised by 2011. Current procedures are too expensive, painful, of poor quality and lack an innovative device to speed up the process.
