Company Summary

Open Minds Organization will provide residential care for intellectual and mentally disabled adults. The organization will be certified as a non–profit corporation. We are dedicated to helping those with developmental disabilities to live their life to the fullest, while creating a family atmosphere that creates a better tomorrow, an atmosphere that encourages the participation of residents' families in their day– to–day lives. We strive to offer a community that promotes self-respect, independence, and improves the quality of life for all our residents. Open Minds is not just a care-giving facility, it is their home and community.

We intend to offer the highest quality residential care and day program services in the east of the geographical center of the State of Alabama in Talladega County, Jefferson County, Shelby County, Montgomery County, and Lee County area. We will listen to the needs and desires of our residents to provide superior living conditions. Our facility will accommodate forty residents, each of whom will have individual fully– furnished bedrooms. Other amenities include several spacious living areas which provide a variety of atmospheres to meet individual needs. Residents will have available three full meals a day and snacks as requested, which will accommodate their personal tastes and nutritional requirements. We will have employed a fully–trained staff who will assist the residents in day–to–day living. In addition, day programs will offer a variety of activities, and habit and work skills training to foster growth of the individual. The day program will be arranged as a classroom base atmosphere.

We also value the time, skills, and expert opinions of our staff. We are committed to providing fair living wages, reasonable, structure work schedules, and clear duties and spheres of rights and responsibilities for each team member. We do not expect staff to do work for which they are not trained; we do expect them to share their suggestions for improving any aspect of Open Minds working operations or care-giving. We aim to provide jobs which not only provide sustenance for our workers’ families, but also all them a space to make a difference in the world around them, through caring and expert assistance to our community’s most vulnerable members.

Open Minds Organization will be an asset to the developmentally disabled community, and the community as a whole. Our goal is to meet the social, physical, mental, recreational, educational, and vocational needs of all of our residents. At Open Minds Organization we are committed to fostering compassion and improving tomorrow for those with mental disabilities.
