Company Summary
The Farmland for this project is located in San Luis Valley, Colorado. Here in the small town of Moffat, at 7500+ feet above sea level, we will be one of just a handful of high altitude farmers. The air up here is pure and crisp and our local springs and wells are fed by the pristine waters of the Rio Grande River.
I plan to call my farm Mountain Fields Organic Farm and plan to grow and harvest a gourmet variety of garlic to be sold online and offline for both seed and food.
The demand for local organic grown garlic is strong as more and more people are learning that imported garlic from China is often irradiated, so you cannot grow your own from it and the nutritional value is suspect.
I will grow using sustainable farming practices to provide the highest quality, healthiest vegetables available. I will maintain The farm and gardens using all organic methods: no pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers, and our products will be labeled and marketed as such.
Growth and expansion plans include selling garlic scrapes as well as developing and manufacturing our own line of organic gourmet garlic products.
Your initial investment of $150,000 will give you 25% equity share in the company and the farm. This will cover all startup expenses involved purchasing an initial 5 acres of land and getting the ground prepared, installation of the irrigation system and buying initial seeds and natural fertilizers needed for planting our first crop. These funds will also cover all costs involved in building a small structure/cabin which I will officially live and operate the business. After you have recouped your initial investment the ownership of the cabin along with one acre of land transfers to me personally. We will continue to farm the remaining 4 acres and this land and this property will remain in the company name forever.
Projected Revenue
On average garlic farmers of large bulbs like the German White are able to harvest 12,000 pounds of garlic per acre grown. The German White is in high demand and sells on average for $15 - $25 per pound. Using the more modest of these figures we feel it is safe to predict a base income of $180,000 per acre. This does not include future revenue opportunities that exist when we implement our own gourmet line of garlic products or monies that can be earned selling the garlic scrapes.
I am currently in negotiations with another garlic farmer to purchase my first year's yield at wholesale price. Even if I sell out at $7 per pound that equals $98,000 in revenue in our first year with only one acre grown!
We plan to start slow and grow. We are in the process of cunsulting with farming and irrigation experts.
The ecommerce gourmet product line we plan to manufacture has no cap on possible revenue generated.
