Company Summary
We make planning and booking train journeys incredibly simple. To do this, our software integrates with the booking systems of major European rail operators. Without Loco2, customers have to use numerous (poorly-executed) websites to manually piece together itineraries. They often give up and fly instead, hugely increasing carbon footprints. Our customers are anyone seeking a viable alternative to flights for short and medium-haul travel.
Team
-
Jamie AndrewsCo-founder
Jamie became the youngest person ever to manage a European Commission project at age 21. He's worked at tech startups since 2007, and became the top revenue generator at amee.com (backed by Saul Klein, USV, OATV) prior to its Series A. He's also worked as a freelance (front-end) web developer. Jamie co-founded Loco2 with his sister Kate, where he manages relationships with rail operators and is responsible for overall strategic development.
-
Kate AndrewsCo-founder
Kate conceived of Loco2 (the "low carbon travel company") whilst at university, receiving a SEEDA social innovation award. She then proceeded to circumnavigate the globe without flying. On her return to the UK, she helped run the Hub Islington (hosting numerous social entrepreneurs) before going full-time on Loco2. Kate is responsible for PR/marketing/content, customer service, accounts/company secretarial, and anything else that needs doing.
-
Jon LeightonCo-founder/Technical Director
Jon is a leading light of the tech community, and a member of the Ruby on Rails core team (see http://rubyonrails.org/core). He's been coding professionally since age 17, only taking a break to complete his Computer Science degree at Oxford. He's been involved from Loco2 from the outset but has also freelanced for likes of the BBC before going full-time on Loco2.
