Company Summary

We have developed an education product that uses the theory of gameplay to significantly increase the engagement and learning outcomes for students. Our first product Playconomics was launched in 2013 and used by 2000+ students at UNSW. It increased learning outcomes by 25% and curbed failure rates by 50%. Products are sold to individual students and directly to university schools and faculties across entire subjects (proscribed textbook model).

  • Isabella Dobrescu is an experienced researcher at the Australian School of Business at UNSW. She is among the best lecturers at UNSW and has received many teaching awards for excellence. She is renowned for her research, which covers computational economics, statistical analysis, and experimental design. She has over 9 years of experience in gameplay and the use of gamification as a platform for teaching.

    Alberto is a tenured lecturer at the Australian School of Business (ASB). He has taught Micro 1 to 4,500+ students and won many teaching awards, including UNSW’s highest teaching excellence award (Heinz Harant). He was also the 1st recipient of ASB students choice award. He is an expert in economic theory, experimental design, and programming. Playconomics is the result of 9+ years of research on using gamification to boost student engagement.
