From 2002 through 2011 Kanani worked in the non-profit sector, advocating for education reform on a state level. In 2011, she turned her focus to early-stage technology start-ups, founding 4 unsuccessful companies, and then became the first hire of a successful EdTech start-up- Learning Ovations, Inc., serving as their Marketing Director for 3 years. In 2017, Kanani founded FruitStand Technology.
