Company Summary

According to a study from the Australia Institute, 3.8M Australians regularly skip lunch at work with no affordable and simple options to get lunch delivered at work. With 1 in 3 employees settling for the same meal most days˄, forced by routine, and 72% of workers being time-poor and having lunch at their desks ˄, there is a strong need to bring variety and convenience to the work place. HowAboutEat sends a daily lunch message via text, email, slack or via the world's first fully automated food ordering Facebook Bot with a new menu from a different restaurant every day. To order, they simply need to reply "yes" to the lunch message to have it delivered to their office with a $1 delivery fee only. We help them never skip lunch again, and discover new meals every day.

On the other hand, with no established online office lunch delivery service, restaurants cannot reach those potential customers that are trapped at their desks. We help them do so, while also creating operational efficiency (cook in bulk in off-peak periods).

Online ordering is set to surpass offline ordering globally in the next 5 years. The $2.5bn Australian takeaway & delivery market only has a 22% online penetration, presenting great growth potential especially in the lunch and office delivery spaces, compared to the relatively over-crowded dinner home delivery area.

Our goal is to capture part of the yearly $899 lunch at work budget that each Australian averages every year.

In addition to capturing the $1 delivery fee per order, we also generate revenue from restaurant commissions (up to 35%). With a more limited and more streamlined delivery structure, with a more limited menu and multiple meals delivered per trip to the same office or area, our delivery structure is much more sustainable than classic 1-to-1 delivery models and therefore with much lower break-even and profitability thresholds.
