Company Summary

Hickory Hydroponics is a sustainable alternative to traditional ways of growing numerous crops. By retrofitting existing structures-- chiefly old grain silos that are commonplace in agricultural areas-- into functional "greenhouses", H.H. takes the high cost of building a greenhouse out of the equation. H.H.'s main goal is to diversify the family farmer's business to hedge against the effects of an unpredictable industry and a changing climate.

    Founder

I am a recent graduate of the Institute for Sustainable Practice at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN where I studied sustainable agriculture. While at Lipscomb, I created a biomimicry project where I designed a more sustainable, biomimetic hydroponic tomato growing system; my project was entered into the Biomimicry Student Design Challenge where it made it into the final top 10 projects in the world, and was recognized by Janine Benyus.
