Heliotrope was founded to develop and market Prelude. Prelude is an interactive learning game that uses creativity to foster self-knowledge, empathy, and collaboration. These skills are key to wellbeing, productivity, and innovation. Yet nowhere are they systemically cultivated. This "EQ Gap" has dire human and financial costs i.e. rising incivility, bullying, and disengagement. Prelude is a high impact, low cost solution.

His experience has afforded a unique perspective on the evolution of online learning and what is truly required to produce tools that can make a difference and help people safely share what they know. Saywire is the result of those experiences.

    Howard is the creator of Prelude. The game is informed by his doctoral and postdoctoral research and two decades of senior management experience in international development, philanthropy, and the private sector. He founded Heliotrope, a social enterprise, to develop and promote Prelude. The International Labour Organization, Education Canada, and UNESCO have published his work.
