Erik founded his first company, The Link, an ISP in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1996, selling it in 1997. He has been in various roles including a technical advisor for Alteon Websystems, sales engineer, solutions architect and product manager for content-aware networking products. He has a solid understanding of operational complexities in a modern infrastructure, which led to the founding of Heimdall Data.

Ramon is a tenured professor of Computer Science at the University of British Columbia, Canada. His research is on database systems. Combining theory with practice, Ramon has written over 50 publications and founded a data virtualization company. Products included providing access to NoSQL sources such as MongoDB and Cassandra. Ramon obtained a B.C.Sc. and Ph.D from the University of Manitoba.
