Company Summary
GreatBigLogo.com was founded with a simple idea...people are fanatical about their favorite teams. And while there are multiple ways to wear your pride or show your pride in your home, showing the world your pride wasn't as easy.
Jay Waggoner, our founder, is an alum of The University of Colorado. He had his friend, Mike Hummel, make a large stencil and he painted the Buff's logo on his lawn. An idea/company was born.
After investigation, we learned that the idea had been tried before. With investigation, we realized they had some critical flaws. First, they went to traditional retail, squeezing margins. Second, as these were pre-internet, they could not micro market as effectively as we can. With that in mind, we also realized they had patented the idea. The patent holders were contacted, information was shared, and GBL (Great Big Logo) acquired the rights to all 6 patents protecting the product.
We set out to acquire licenses, starting with Colleges. We secured 4, including Georgia and Clemson.
The company launched with the breast cancer awareness ribbon, and with virtually no marketing had over $3000 in revenue @ $99 per unit.
Our first week of Clemson sales has been spectacular, over $2500 in revenue with about $100 a day in marketing investment. Our thesis is 50 logos per school per year, so the Clemson results are even more exciting.
