Previous to Scintera, he held key technical and management roles at Qualcomm, Ericsson and Morphics and holds about 40 patents (more pending). Michael leverages his extensive global experience in search engines, multimedia, eCommerce, social commerce, and mobile apps. Earlier, at pioneering comparison shopping engine mySimon, he led strategic bus dev leading to its acquisition by CNET. Previously was VP of Sales and Business Development at algorithmic search engineWiseNut, Inc. prior to its acquisition by LookSmart & also served as VP of Strategic Accounts at FAST Search and Transfer.

Dr. Yan is also currently in faculty with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at National University of Singapore, and has been the founding lead of the Learning and Vision Research Group. Dr. Yan’s research areas include computer vision, multimedia and machine learning, and he has authored or co-authored over 250 technical papers over a wide range of research topics, and has won many awards.
