Company Summary

In the US and around the world, hundreds of millions do not have access to adequate medical facilities and test results often take days, increasing costs and delaying critical medical decisions. GlucoSentient technology builds on the widely available blood glucose meters and allows a minimally trained user to perform simple quantitative tests that immediately impacts medical decisions and improve standard of care for patients.

Team

  • Brian N.Y. Wong
    Mr.

Brian Wong is a senior materials science and engineering Ph.D. student in Dr. Lu's lab. His Ph.D. research has focused on the use of biological nanostructures and nanoparticles to advance fundamental nanoscience as well as exploring biomedical and self assembly applications. He also spent a summer as an intern at Illinois Ventures where he analyzed business plans and conducted primary and secondary analysis.

  • Tian Lan
    Mr.

Mr. Tian Lan is a senior biochemistry graduate student in Professor Lu's lab. His Ph.D training focuses on the isolation, characterization and application of functional nucleic acids, such as aptamers (nucleic acid affinity agent) and DNAzymes (DNA catalyst). He's also the working for GlucoSentient, Inc. to develop glucose meter based diagnostics.

  • Neil Kane
    Mr.

I have previously served as the CEO and the founding president for Advanced Diamond Technologies (ADT), a company I co-founded based on technology licensed from Argonne National Laboratory. In ADT I raised $12 million dollars from investors around the world, received over $9 million in financing from public sources, brought award winning products to the market and won a number of awards for entrepreneurship.

  • Yi Lu
    Prof.

Dr. Yi Lu is the Jay and Ann Schenck Professor of Chemistry at University of Illinois of Urbana Champaign. GlucoSentient's underlying technology was originally conceived and demonstrated in his lab. He has more than 20 years of experience in designing sensors and imaging agents for medical diagnostics, publishing more than 100 peer-reviewed papers and holding a number of US and international patents.
