She has held various positions ranging from tech scout to nonprofit VP, and has worked across federal, university, and nonprofit sectors to help innovation see impact.

Dr. Bakalinsky’s past research at Oregon State University focused on the physiology of yeast fermentation. He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and was co-author on the paper describing the discovery of the gadusol biosynthetic pathway in zebra fish. His early work focused on a widely-exploited but poorly understood trait of wine strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae—resistance to sulfite.
