Company Summary

Flying robots offer an amazing cost and time saving opportunity for routine work and may spare human lives in dangerous tasks. However, current solutions are not robust enough to be used in most real-life environments. Flyability thus developped Gimball, the world's first collision-tolerant, easy-to operate and safe flying robot. It can fly where it was simply not possible before, such as inside mines or storage tanks, or inside tunnels.

Team

  • After focusing on the development of microsystems during his MSc at the EPFL and the University of California, Patrick started his career as a strategy consultant. In his 4-year career in consulting, Patrick assisted customers ranging from blue-chip companies to young startups in entering new markets and achieving sustainable growth. For two years, he had management responsibility and was accountable for business development activities.

  • After a MSc in robotics at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) and Harvard University, Adrien pursued a PhD at EPFL (Laboratory of Intelligent Systems) during which he developed and patented novel approaches for the stabilization of flying robots in cluttered environments. Through 6 years of research in the field, Adrien mastered all aspects of the flying robots technology including mechanical, electrical and software engineering.
