Company Summary
FE Wood Natural Energy is a new venture by FE Wood & Sons, a 5th generation forest products company in West Baldwin, ME. We are preparing to build a 37,000 ton per year pellet production facility, which will produce a premium wood pellet.
We will create a new market for Eastern White Pine pulpwood in Southern Maine, helping loggers, landowners and sawmill owners alike in the face of a very weak market for softwood pulp.
We will sell 100% of our product to local specialty retailers and stove shops, promoting the growth of renewable heating in New England, and supporting jobs and local economic benefit in our communities of Southern Maine, Southern New Hampshire and Eastern Massachusetts.
The wood pellet market in the Northeast is 1.4 million tons per year, and has grown by a 7% CAGR over the past 10 years. This market continues to grow despite volatile fossil fuel prices and global macroeconomic changes, with most of the growth being satisfied by imports of wood pellets from Eastern Canada and the mid-coast United States. Premium quality product, state of the art manufacturing practices, and dedication to our customers will set our mill apart from the existing producers in the area who are inconsistent, unreliable or unavailable for their local customers.
