The Federal Marshals Service was started with very specific goals in mind. The first goal is the return of wanted fugitives, those people who have active warrants against their name, into lawful custody. The second goal is to assist police services by being able to respond to Priority 2/3 calls and all non-emergency calls, allowing the police more time for investigations and allowing more members to be available for 911/Priority 1 calls.
