The Farmery is an urban farming and retailing system that consolidates the food system by growing and selling the food at the same site. By consolidating the growing and retail systems, the Farmery raises the value of the products it produces by selling them in a stimulating retail experience, and lowers the costs of producing the products by reducing transportation, packaging, energy and distributors costs.

    Ben developed the initial design of the Farmery as part of his Master’s thesis project in Industrial Design. Since his graduation in 2009, he has been a marketing manager and product developer for Vialink group, an industrial design consulting firm and power sports accessory brand. In this role he has designed and developed numerous products and led the product development for the Seizmik Brand of powersports accessories.

    Tyler has managed greenhouses in Honolulu, HI, (rare and endangered plants, US Army), Apex, NC (ornamental plants for wastewater treatment via constructed wetlands, Private Company), Boone, NC (research and conservation, and food production, Appalachian State University, and local farms), and Vermillion Parish, LA (habitat restoration, Private Company) for over 5 years.
