Company Summary

Our micro-solar electric propulsion system allows CubeSats to optimize and maintain their orbits for the first time. This improves satellite lifetime and control, opening commercial applications to the rapidly growing segment. As an additional benefit, the 300 W solar arrays enable longer range and higher data rate communication and improved sensors. This enables low-cost, resilient constellations of CubeSats to supplant existing systems.

    Mr. VanWoerkom is the founder of ExoTerra. Prior to forming the company he spent 14 years at Lockheed. For 6 yrs, he led the Orion Crew Module Mechanical team which consisted of 170 members across 3 states with a >$250M budget. He also brought 2 satellites from concept to launch. His expertise includes system design, Electric Prop. and structures. He was given over a dozen awards at LM. He holds a MS in Aerospace Engr and an MBA.

    Mechanical Lead

    Prior to joining ExoTerra, Tom spent 15 years at Lockheed. He served as the mechanical integration lead on Orion for 6 years. His responsibilities included packaging all subsystems into the Crew Module, giving him intimate knowlede of the entire spacecraft. He also performed mechanical design on BV+, Space Shuttle, Falcon and X33/Venturestar. With ExoTerra he has performed satellite and small launch vehicle design. He holds a BS in Mech. Engr

    Electrical Engineer

    Wes has 12 years of experience as an electric engineer. He has worked government robotics projects and commercial power systems for wind power and LEDs. He holds a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. At ExoTerra, he is responsible for the spacecraft electrical power system, including solar arrays, power distribution, and energy storage.

    Mechanisms Lead

    Carl has eight years of experience in the aerospace industry. He has flown mechanisms on the Orion Crew Module, and has supported the reentry thermal protection system design for both Orion and Dream Chaser. Carl has begun classes for a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. For ExoTerra, he has been responsible for the thrust vector control, solar array deployment, thermal analysis and optical communications analysis.
