  • Mr. Stoner is a serial entrepreneur and investor having served as a CEO of two publicly traded companies ( raised more than $300mm in venture capital and public equity and invested proceeds into dozens of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, ranging from ice-storage facilities, owning and operating utility scale wind energy projects in Brazil).

    He is a graduate of Hampshire College (B.A.) and the London School
    of Economics (M.S.).

    Econometrician and data scientist with extensive experience in data analysis, predictive modeling, econometrics, statistics, and international experience in microfinance & mutual fund modeling and analysis.

  • Dr. David Schimel
    Chairman of the board

    Dr. David Schimel, a recipient of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for his work on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report. He is currently leading research at NASA focused on carbon-cycle climate interactions, combining models and observations. He has published over 150 papers and 2 books. Dr. Schimel earned his B.A. from Hampshire College and Ph.D. at Colorado State University

  • Dr. James White
    Member of the board

    Dr. James White is Fellow and Director of INSTAAR and Professor of Geological Sciences at the U of Colorado, Boulder. His research includes modeling the global carbon cycle using isotope ratios in atmospheric CO2 and methane. He has been a member of deep ice coring projects in Greenland and Antarctica. He is also an affiliate of NOAA works closely with the Carbon Cycle Group.

    Dr. White earned his PhD at Columbia.

    Backlund has devoted his career to the planning and management of complex research organizations. He served as senior advisor in the White House (1995-2001) focusing on climate science and communication of technology issues to industry, academics, the public and Congress.

    He has a graduate degree in science, technology, and public policy at George Washington University.

    In 2013, Barnett formed Wexford Capital Partners, LLC as an independent sponsor platform for principal investing with partners in middle market Industrial, Consumer and Financial Services opportunities. Mr. Barnett is a Senior Advisor with Verit Advisors, LLC, a boutique investment banking firm specializing in ESOP transactions.

    Barnett earned an MBA in Finance and a BS in Applied Mathematics, from the University of Michigan.

    John Heilshorn is co-founding partner of LHA, a a premier provider of strategic communications services to public and soon-to-be public companies. He advises clients in a variety of industries, including telecom/data center, clean tech, consumer goods, technology and financial services.

    Heilshorn began his career as a registered investment advisor for Merrill Lynch, and earned a BA in Government from Lawrence University.

    Winter is a seasoned professional with operating and board experience in private and public enterprises. He is a general partner with Denver-based New West Capital Partners, a boutique private equity firm serving smaller companies needing growth and expansion capital.

    Winter earned BA and MS degrees in economics from the U of Colorado and a Harvard Business School certificate for the Owner President Management program.
