Peter is the executive director of Empirical. Peter has spent the last eight years studying how games are constructed and how people learn. His goal is to build games where people learn by constructing their own knowledge. Peter studied philosophy and history at Bates College. Quinn Shanahan is a web developer based in Brooklyn. Quinn has led the development of www.yipit.com, www.longislandindex.org, www.fav.co . He is building Empirical Grammar using Ruby on Rails, and he is publishing to Heroku. Paul Hartman studied Japanese at Bates College and received his masters in Japanese language education from Tufts University. Paul has worked as an itinerant teacher for several middle and elementary schools in the Boston area, including the James P. Timilty Middle School in Boston's Roxbury subdivision. Paul’s work with low income students has made him realize that there is a pressing need for educational tools in developing communities.
