He has been creating online healthcare applications since the Internet bubble of the late 1990s, having previously spent close to nine years working alongside Howard Mahran for NexCura, Inc., a provider of online healthcare treatment decision support tools. Scott graduated from the University of Washington in 1995 with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics.

Previously in 1998, he founded NexCura, Inc. whose mission was to bring Internet-based, personalized healthcare information to patients with chronic diseases.
