Company Summary

Crux is developing the Multiple Core Biopsy (MCB) Device to improve GI biopsies using its novel approach as a high-throughput technology, focusing on quality, accuracy and speed of specimens extracted. Improved diagnostic yield advances outcomes, resulting in better medicine with earlier detection and accurate diagnosis for treatment of GI disorders. The value proposition of the MCB will benefit the physician, pathologist, facility and patient.

Team

  • Bob Clements
    President & Founder

Mr. Clements’ 25 years experience in medical sales and sales management with two leading medical companies CR Bard & Steris makes him well suited to direct Crux early marketing efforts. He became Regional Sales Director for STERIS shortly after its IPO with annual sales of $7M. Mr. Clements played an integral part in helping grow the sales force from 18 to its current size of over 500 sales associates with annual sales in excess of $1.2 Billion.

  • Andrew Face
    Vice President & Co-Founder

Mr. Face has had a multidisciplinary career in accounting, public and private equity finance, business development and project management. His broad business knowledge provides essential tools needed to guide early stage companies and have been instrumental in advancing Crux through team building, IP protection and funding stages.

  • Dr. John Inadomi
    Principal Investigator

Dr. Inadomi's research is focused on the comparative effectiveness of competing strategies to reduce mortality from gastrointestinal malignancy. The Multiple Core Biopsy device is well-suited for his research interests; moreover, his background and training in biomechanical engineering allows him to approach this problem with both the clinical and technical perspectives necessary to design, develop, test and disseminate this novel technology.

  • Brian Doll
    Chief Technical Officer

Mr. Doll brings 15 years of experience in taking complete medical devices in all three FDA classes through their design and development cycles including designing, developing, testing, approval and selling/implementing. Much of this experience is related to products delivered by catheterization. His directly applicable medical/anatomic background as a physician's assistant in a GI practice is a key asset toward successful engineering of the MCB.

  • Scott Thielman, Ph.D.
    Advisory Board Member

Scott Theilman's role for this project is to manage a team of engineers while developing the distal tip design for the multiple core biopsy device (MCBD). This is an effort that requires a variety of disciplines to work together; mechanical engineering, materials science, tissue mechanics. For the past 18 years ScottI has been managing and participating in collaborative teams tasked with solving such design problems.

  • Dr. Melissa Upton
    Co-Investigator

Dr. Upton is a Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of Washington and serves as the Director of the Rodger C. Haggitt Gastrointestinal and Hepatic Pathology Service. Her research accomplishments are extensive and involve the development of histologic predictors of tumors such as squamous cell, renal cell, colorectal, esophageal and hepatocellular carcinoma.

  • Dr. Robert Gannan
    Advisory Board Member

With years of clinical practice, over 30 research projects and consulting work with medical device companies, Dr. Robert Gannan is well suited to help with design, trials and commercialization of the Crux MCB device. As Founder and National Medical Director for Physician’s Endoscopy with over 200 gastroenterologist and 20 Endoscopy Centers across the US, Dr. Gannan thoroughly understands the clinical and device requirements for GI doctors.
