Company Summary

Keeping track of and quickly creating lessons is impossible. The average teacher maintains over 300 word documents for each course they teach. Because of this, sharing is impossible, so most educators teach in isolation. Common Curriculum helps teachers streamline all their instruction in one place, create lessons on the fly, and share them with the people that matter, like teachers in their network and the families that they impact.

Team

  • Scott Messinger
    Founder and CEO

After graduating from Bucknell and working as a financial analyst at Johnson and Johnson, Scott moved to Baltimore to teach math in an inner-city classroom. After four years, he began writing curriculum for the city, building the first version of Common Curriculum to make curriculum publishing more streamlined. Scott has spoken at multiple Ruby on Rails conferences and runs the development and design teams.

  • Robbie Earle
    Co-founder and COO

Trained as a community organizer, Robbie started a non-profit and international studies department while attending the University of Texas. After graduation he was accepted into Teach for America, and taught middle school history and science for three years in Baltimore. Scott asked Robbie to join as co-founder after meeting him at an education conference in fall 2011. Robbie runs business development, sales, and marketing.
