The improved perception with color increases detection of stroke, osteoporosis, and other conditions, and the technology is applicable to CT images from any manufacturer. A working prototype showed improved detection of stroke in a large clinical trial.

Smith has 3 patents pending and is currently the sole owner of Color Enhanced Detection LLC, Liver Nodularity LLC, eMASS LLC, and Radiostics LLC.
