Dr. Brian SodenVP Science and TechnologyDr. Soden is a Professor at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School for Marine and Atmospheric Science. He specializes in the use of satellite observations to simulate the Earth's climate and has authored over 100 peer reviewed papers. He is a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society and Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change which shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with Vice President Al Gore.

Dr.Berry is a Distinguished Research Professor Emeritus and former Director of the Florida Center for Environmental Studies at FAU. He has been a consultant to numerous national and international agencies including USAID, World Bank, UNDP, GEF and FAO.

Albert SlapPresidentAlbert Slap is a co-founder of Coastal Risk Consulting. Mr. Slap is a nationally-recognized, environmental attorney and law professor. Over the years, Mr. Slap has used America’s environmental laws protect public health and the environment by stopping water and air pollution, toxic waste dumping, and by forcing local governments to replace aging and polluting sewer infrastructure.

Previously, he was involved in developing automation tools for the National Hurricane Center in Miami which included Tropical Storm Force Winds Time of Arrival, Tropical Cyclone Rainfall, and Hurricane Best Track products. He also has worked as a contractor for the Department of Defense primarily in Guam and Japan.

Hilary StevensSenior Staff ScientistHilary Stevens is a geologist and environmental scientist with extensive experience in coastal resource management. She serves as a member of Coastal Risk’s science team as well as the company liaison in Washington, DC. Earlier, she worked at the Coastal Resources Center at the University of Rhode Island, where she developed climate change adaptation programs for coastal communities in West Africa and Southeast Asia.

GIS Risk SpecialistDoug Harrison is a career GIS Risk Analyst. Before coming to Coastal Risk Consulting, he spent 25 years as a GIS/Emergency Management contractor supporting FEMA, DHS, and DoD contracts as well as a variety of local, State, Corporate and Non-Profit clients. He has been involved extensively with the creation of GIS data supporting the National Flood Insurance Program.

Kristen BesselsenStrategic Planning AssociateKristen Besselsen is the Strategic Planning Associate at Coastal Risk Consulting. Prior to Coastal Risk, Kristen was a professional athlete playing for Örebro Volley in Sweden while also working remotely as the Marketing Manager for Claim Academy, where she focused on branding, promotion and search engine optimization. Kristen graduated from Murray State University with a B.S. in Marketing and an MBA.
