Company Summary

Our company would provide all the essential career services that a top school would offer. We would cater to community colleges and lower-tiered schools with limited resources, with the goal of completely outsourcing to us.

With tight budgets, schools have limited resources to devote to careers. One way would be to use a third-party vendor that has connections and economies of scale that could assist current students and alumni with their career needs. Schools could rest assured that they are getting high caliber services in line with services being provided by others schools, all at a lower cost.

The status quo is that each school has its own career center, which is inefficient. There are headcount costs, real estate demands, and website creation and maintenance costs. Schools also have limited connections, relying heavily on their alumni network, and many schools do not have a strong, active alumni community. This ends up limiting the potential of their students.

The opportunity is to capitalize on this inefficiency, and while many top-tier schools would probably want their career centers to be internal, there are many other schools that do not have the same resources. We could provide better career services to these schools due to the number of customers and outside connections, not reliant on alumni or corporate recruiting.

This company would operate as a business-to-business service, but we could also open services and events up to other students who would pay a la carte. Another possible revenue stream can come from working with nonprofits or governmental agencies to provide career services to the underprivileged.

Students, no matter what college they attend, should have access to quality career services. Smaller companies, without resources to hire recruiters, should also be able to connect with high-caliber students.

Services would include those that school career centers offer, such as one-on-one career coaching and recorded mock interviews. We would have workshops available for those wanting to connect with and learn from each other. We would also offer services on personal branding, including on social media. These services will also be available virtually, so students and alumni can have access anywhere. We would host guest speakers to talk about their industries and offer opportunities to shadow workers.

We are doing what Workday did for human resources management. Companies are finding that outsourcing some of their operations cuts costs, and we want to provide this option to schools. We would also use economies of scale to provide quality services that schools individually could not offer.
